This program gave me, as a graduate, the opportunity to participate in an extended 1-month English language learning experience abroad. It made me realize that “no one is ever too old to learn” and “anyone can study abroad.” You don’t need to be fluent in English from the start; all you need is the determination to learn, and the program will fully support you. Moreover, the program allowed all participants to immerse themselves in English through various activities with friends, buddies, and university professors, as well as in daily life in Penang, Malaysia.
I’m proud of myself for taking the initiative to talk and connect with others, including my program peers, buddies, and university professors. Normally, I’m not the kind of person who enjoys socializing or talking with others—I often prefer to keep to myself. But everyone in the program welcomed me warmly as part of their journey, and that changed everything for me.
My use of English evolved—it wasn’t just for work or study anymore. It became a tool for building relationships that broadened my perspective on the world, from different cultures and ways of life to individual mindsets and attitudes.
Since this was the first time this program was organized, I think it was overall well-executed. The staff’s attention to detail, especially in terms of learning, travel, and safety, was commendable.
Through this program, I’ve grown in my ability to connect with others, be more attentive to friends and family, express my own opinions, and listen to others’ perspectives. This has been a truly transformative experience for me.
