A Moment of Pride: Being a Student of the Oxford Language and Leadership Program (OLLP)
After being selected for this program, I was presented with numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. These included enhancing my English skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, meeting new friends from diverse countries and religions, and developing my mindset and understanding of myself and others through NLP. I also had the privilege of being part of a community that radiates positive energy, engaging in cultural and language exchanges abroad, and experiencing innovative teaching methods and well-structured curricula.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to P’ Sufeeyah and the organizers of International Kingdom for granting me this amazing opportunity. I am also deeply thankful to Oxford Language Centre, which has guided me throughout the past year. The transformation in my English communication skills has been remarkable—I now instinctively use English in my daily conversations and feel confident initiating and participating in interactions with people from different countries.
In our NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) classes, our teachers encouraged us to cultivate a positive mindset. Each day, we engaged in discussions and shared ideas and experiences on various topics in English. I believe this activity delivered exceptional outcomes: it helped me reflect on my past, present, and future, allowed me to both give and receive positive energy (there was absolutely no room for negativity), and made me more comfortable and fluent in using English as a communication tool. The lessons were practical; for example, learning about Love Languages helped me understand my family and friends better and taught me how to adapt to their needs to strengthen our relationships. The frequent breakout room discussions gave me opportunities to connect with new people, many of whom I remain friends with today.
Some friendships I’ll always cherish include P’Mai, a businesswoman from Laos, with whom I exchanged valuable advice and ideas, and Peter, a highly talented friend who taught me game coding and joined my team. I also became close to Khem and Ruffan, younger peers with clear and ambitious goals for their university applications, and Seemah, who shares my passion for startups and entrepreneurship.
Special mentions go to Dr. Ray, Teacher Afaf, and Teacher Wiarm, whose dedication to teaching was truly inspiring. Dr. Ray became my role model for both learning and living life to the fullest. Teacher Afaf poured her heart into every lesson, and I was thrilled to discuss our future goals together on the final day. We’re both excited about potential collaborations in the future! Teacher Wiarm, always enthusiastic and kind, made me feel seen and appreciated throughout the program.
Lastly, I want to thank the friends I made during the short exchange trips to Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the seniors and juniors at NUS. Your companionship has been such a blessing, and I’m truly happy to have met you all.
I’m typing this with a heart full of gratitude for everything that has happened in my life.
