4th Language and Cultural Exchange Program in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Türkiye 2024
Project details
This program is an intensive English language learning program, from basic to advanced level. The program is provided by University of Science Malaysia, one of the quality and standard universities, ranked 2nd in Malaysia, with outstanding academic and research achievements. This program is organized to provide opportunities for Thai students and youth to practice their English and try living abroad, to learn new cultures and ways of life abroad, and to exchange ideas with people from many countries. During this exchange, those who are selected will receive many privileges, such as support for overseas exchange, traveling to gain new experiences, visiting nature, and different architectures, interacting and making friends to build a network for the future, allowing them to see the world more broadly and have a far-reaching vision.
Applicant Qualifications
- Age between 13-25 years
- Students, students or youth who want to learn English from the basic level
- Be Thai
- Want to be a leader and develop their potential to a high level
- Be physically fit and have a good attitude, ready to change themselves and learn about various cultures
- Be responsible, flexible, adaptable and ready to learn new things
- Have no criminal record
- Have never received a full scholarship from the Thai government
What you will learn in the project
- Intensive English language study and participation in activities with international youth. Field trips to various states in selected exchange countries.
- Open new perspectives and build intellectual weapons.
- Promote self-development, adjust attitudes, thoughts, beliefs about oneself and the world around you, as well as leadership skills.
- Gain experience in learning English from the basic level with famous foreign institutions.
- Gain opportunities and good networks at the international level, as well as learn about diverse cultures to expand knowledge for future employment.
- After completing each level, there will be an English proficiency test from the University of Science Malaysia, with certificates at every level from basic to advanced.
- Those selected to join the program who complete the course and have test results ranked 1-10 will receive a trophy from the program, along with a full scholarship to go on an exchange abroad. Those selected to join the program who complete the course will receive a full scholarship to go on an exchange abroad.

Terms and Conditions for Project Participation
- This project is a long-term project that continues for 1 year. Participants must be patient in attending classes. If they cannot attend classes during that time/have important duties, they must inform the instructor and study later via video for the highest efficiency of the students themselves.
- Participants must strictly follow the rules of the project. If the participant cannot follow the rules or causes damage to the project, the project can immediately disqualify the participant.
How to apply
- Complete the application form (Google Form)
- Write an essay under the topic “How language learning and cultural exchange make us grow” in English or Thai with the following essay writing rules:
- Use Microsoft Word to write
- More than 300 words, no more than 600 words
- For English, use Times New Roman font size 14
- For Thai, use TH SarabunPSK font size 16
- Pay the application fee and attach proof of payment, proof of application attached in Google form
- Proof of transfer of payment of the application fee, amount 200 baht
- Proof of English proficiency test (if any)
- Essay file
Uploaded essay files must be PDF files only. File names must be the applicant’s first and last names.

Conducting the selection process and announcing the results
- Application: From the announcement date – 22 February 2024
- Announcement of the essay selection results (via email): 26 February 2024
- Interview: 2-3 March 2024
- Announcement of the list of those who passed the interview round (actual): 8 March 2024
- Selection candidates confirm their rights: within 8-14 March 2024
Note: The schedule is subject to change as appropriate.
All selected candidates will receive the scholarship. The countries to which they will go for exchange after completing the course will depend on the test scores and academic results of the students. For participants who are unable to go for exchange, the project will provide a scholarship of 10,000 baht (ten thousand baht) to be used as a scholarship for study or other purposes and for the maximum benefit of the students.
*Note: The above scholarship does not cover personal expenses during the program, domestic travel expenses, and passport fees.
Project participation period
Selected candidates will have to participate in 2 phases of activities:
Phase 1: Selected candidates will have to study language for 12 months and take additional courses on scholarship techniques, interviewing, leadership, and other related subjects in an online course.
April 2024-March 2025 every Saturday and Sunday from 08:00-11:00 hrs.
Phase 2: Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship to participate in an exchange activity in the selected country from June 2025 onwards. The exchange program period will not exceed December 2025.
Special for those who are unable to submit their application within the specified time but would like to join the exchange activity only and agree to pay the full fee, applicants can do the following:

2. University of Science Malaysia
Universiti Sains Malaysia or University of Science, Malaysia is a public university in Malaysia. Established in 1969, it is now 53 years old. The university has 3 campuses. The main campus is located in Penang. The Kelantan campus is used to teach health subjects. The Nibong Tebal campus in Penang teaches engineering subjects. The university currently has over 30,000 students. It is the second oldest university in the country. It was first established as “Universiti Pulau Pinang”. It specializes in teaching pure sciences, applied sciences, pharmacy. It also has good research control in the fields of education, social sciences and humanities.
2.1. School of Languages, Literacies and Translation
The School of Languages, Literacies and Translation was established in 1972 as a language course under the School of Education. In 1985, the course was upgraded to the Centre for Languages and Translation (CLT). At that time, Malay was the medium of instruction and English became a compulsory subject for all undergraduate students, which gave CLT an increasingly prominent and important role.
The CLT was upgraded to the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation on 19 November 2008 and began offering degree programs in a variety of specialized language disciplines. The first program was the Bachelor of Arts in English for Professionals. Graduates of this program will not only have English language proficiency, but also the skills necessary to excel in both local and global workplaces. Currently, a wide range of foreign languages are offered, including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, German, Korean, French, Spanish, Tamil, Russian and Thai. These programs are offered as both core and elective courses, giving students more opportunities to learn new languages. and increase career opportunities
